The band has been working on new material and it will see the light of day sometime soon. Singer/guitarist Matt Pryor, in an interview with the Phoenix New Times, said "There's new material. We've written and recorded 9 songs, and they are being mixed right now. We're not really approaching it in the traditional 'we're gonna put out a new record and do the touring cycle' way. We're gonna [do] more fun stuff, like good vinyl and limited edition releases. Cool shit, not just 'here's the new CD.' Everyone has so much going on it really works better for us that way."

IGNITE SINGER TO FRONT PENNYWISE

The members of PENNYWISE have announced that Zoli Teglas, front man for OC hardcore/punk band IGNITE will be filling in on vocals during the band’s set on the 2009 Smokeout Festival at the San Manuel Amphitheatre in San Bernadino, CA October 24th, as they begin their search for a new singer.

The two day Smokeout Festival will take place on October 23 and 24 and marks the seminal Hermosa Beach punk band’s first major show since Pennywise singer Jim Lindberg and the band parted ways last month after 19 years together.

Pennywise will be playing on a lineup that includes such acts as Slipknot, Deftones, Cypress Hill, Kottonmouth Kings, Bad Brains, Method Man/Red Man, a recently reunited Sublime (performing with their new singer, Rome) and many more.

He's not a permanent addition but it would still be interesting to hear. Probably not at the Smokeout Festival, though.

MERCURY SPILLED IN DENVER'S LINCOLN HIGH SCHOOL

A student at Denver's Lincoln High School brought mercury to school today, and the student had to be decontaminated by firefighters.

The incident happened around the lunch hour when the student spilled a trace amount inside the school, said Lt. Phil Champagne, a Denver Fire Department spokesman.

The fire department's hazardous-materials unit cleaned up a minuscule amount of mercury from a classroom, and a couple of other classrooms were evacuated as a safety precaution, Champagne said. read more here.
