MOVE ALONG: NEW TUNES

CHUCK BISCUITS IS ALIVE

JG2-

And it seems it was all just a cruel, cruel hoax: legendary hard rock drummer Chuck Biscuits, whom this blog eulogized Tuesday after receiving a death notice that allegedly came from his wife, is apparently still among the living.

“I just wanted to let you know that Chuck [Biscuits] is alive and as well as can be expected,” said Bob Montgomery, Chuck’s brother, in an e-mail sent to the author earlier today. “I drove to his home in Seattle [from Canada] to confirm that fact.”

HARDCORE ON DONAHUE

B9 TO RE-ISSUE VICTIM IN PAIN

From Bridge 9:

Agnostic Front and Bridge Nine Records have teamed up to re-release the legendary albums, Victim In Pain & United Blood , nationwide on November 17th. To help Agnostic Front commemorate their 25th year since the original release of their debut album, "Victim In Pain", we've put together a proper re-issue, along side their first EP, 1983's "United Blood".

Victim In Pain has been given extra special treatment, with a gatefold LP cover, complete with a dirty gold metallic ink & embossed logo & title. The gatefold opens up to the original handwritten layout of the first pressing, and later censored original cover is printed full size on the front and back of the dust sleeve.

United Blood has a similar metallic ink & embossed logo front cover, and also has the original cover design printed in black and white on the enclosed dust jacket.

Gold vinyl is the limited color, and comes first come, first serve with each package deal. Packages include a 12"x18" poster & a limited edition Agnostic Front - Victim In Pain t-shirt. Both are also available to the first few people who elect to grab the "all 3" or "all 6" vinyl package deals. Orders will ship prior to street date, which is November 17th. Pre-orders are available today, so get your copy NOW!

NEWS: BANKROBBER

"So we had a bit of a hectic month so far. Putting out this record has proved to be a bit of a challenge as well as scheduling shows around the unpredictability of our guys. So here is the happenings as of 10/20/2009. The records have been approved and should be getting pressed and sent to us within the next week or two. After some last minute changes with the artwork, Jef Kopp delivered, as promised, one sick piece of album art. The art has been scanned and will be landing in the hands of Andrew, our new label guy by thursday. Andrew has Runner Up records to his credit with some rad releases and is starting a more Hardcore focused label with our 7" being his first release. This has taken a ton of stress off of this record for us. I believe he settled on Hydrogen Man Records, hydrogenman.tumblr.com/ And is also releasing a split with Swallowed Up and Black Kites. Andrew has been nothing but supportive and helpful through out this process.

As for shows, we had to bail on the Death Before Dishonor, Steel Nation show on the 26th of this month due to scheduling conflicts and are very bummed to have done so. I want to apologize and thank Memphis from DBD for his efforts getting us on this. Also, a big thanks to Rebel Force for swapping shows with us so we could play with Rise and Fall, and Creatures on the 21st. You dudes saved our asses this month. And another big thank you to Mark from C-Ways for letting this foolishness take place, I swear the bands on that flier changed at least 5 times. So the plan right now is to have our record release show on November 6th with Nothing To Nothing and some great locals who are still TBA. We will be giving out records during this show only so do yourselves a favor and be there.

That's all I can think of.
Jesus isn't real."

xxx ALL AGES xxx TRAILER

From the director:

This is the latest promo clip for the film that I am currently directing, which carries the working title is "XXX All Ages XXX" (Where Boston Hardcore Began). Unlike some of the other films that have been released regarding this particular era that center on the guys in the bands, this one focuses on the social aspect of the scene from 1981-1984. Some of the subjects that the film concentrates on are: Community, Communication, The DIY ethic of the time and of course Straight Edge.

HAPPY EDGE DAY

The medium of the holiday is the attendance of local shows done by (mainly hardcore) bands who also identify themselves with being straight edge. It will be entering its 10th year in 2009. The first annual National Edge Day was celebrated on October 17, 1999 at the final Ten Yard Fight concert at the nightclub Karma in Boston, Massachusetts. The concert also featured the bands Bane, In My Eyes, Reach the Sky and Floorpunch.

This show marked the end of the 1990s youth crew revival, but arguably starting a new chapter in straight edge by creating an observable holiday in the community. Since then, every year there has been a local show in the Boston area that has been the celebrated Edge Day show. If the 17th doesn't fall on a weekend, the Edge Day show usually falls on the Saturday before or after the 17th.

ALL OUT WAR 7" - REPRESS' 2ND PRESSING

This is the long awaited repress of the out of print 7" originally released on S.U.R. Records. These 2 songs from NY's All Out War were originally intended for an Astor Records NYHC compilation that never saw the light of day. All Out War is a punishing display of the aggression of hardcore crossed with the brutality of metal while avoiding the shortcomings of both genres. To get a taste of All Out War's musical style, envision Carcass colliding head on with "Age of Quarrel" era Cro- Mags. Two styles as different as they come but All Out War combines the two to form an attack unmatched by today's standards.

All Out War's "Hymns of the Apocalypse" 7" has entered its second press and well there's a ton of different colors and a limited cover (only 35 made). They are now up in the webstore.

RIGHT NOW

NEWS: OCT 26TH THE OL' SWITCHEROO

"So if anyone cares, Rebel Force is going to replace BANKROBBER on the Death Before Dishonor, Steel Nation, Run With The Hunted show Oct. 26th. This was a bit of a last minute thing that was quite a head ache for me. We had the show booked and then found out our drummer had a vacation planned. Oh well, life happens so Rebel Force was kind enough to switch us shows, so BANKROBBER is playing Rise and Fall. Thanks to Mark for getting us on, back on, the Rise and Fall show and also thanks to Memphis for his help with the Oct. 26th show. Sorry we made a mess of this.
As for our record release, we planned on giving out 50 copies of the 7" at the DBD show. If we magically have them by Rise and Fall we will give them out there. If not we will figure out something in November. Thank you Rebel Force, and have fun on the 26th!"

RALLY THE FRAY REUNION?

RTF Update 9/14/09"

"Well kiddos, its been quite a while. About two and a half years to be exact. In that span of time most of the former members of RTF have managed to be dispersed across the country. Matt and Michael are still liftin' weights in Fort fun, Mark is roaming around the country with Crooked Ways, Sam and Neil are thrashin in WI, Jaime is in Alaska hanging with grizznar (I think), Ann is in Boston, I have no idea where Brian and Marcus are, and yours truly is running around in wetlands on the east coast.

So whats the point of this update? Does anyone give a fuck? Whats the capital of Bhutan?

Just a little heads up to keep your ears open - RTF stuff is in the works. All kinds of secretive on-a-need-to-know-james-bond-type-thing basis. And as soon as we get shit worked out for sure, y'all will be the first to know. For like the 5 of you who care. wee!!

And just for shits and giggles and to build the suspense - EVERY RTF song we every recorded is available now for download. For free! No foolin! I even put up some videos from the last show so you can see how silly we all look.

Go here to download em: http://www.last.fm/music/Rally+The+FrayI'll be back soon with real substantive news, for reals. maybe."

BROKENCYDE OCT 29TH: WHAT A JOKE

CONVERGE CALL OUT THE ONE RESPONSIBLE FOR ALBUM LEAK

Converge's new album, Axe To Fall doesn't officially come out until October 20, but if you have the internet, chances are you've already heard it. The album was leaked a few days ago but thanks to an increased effort from record labels to try and prevent such an event, they know exactly where the leak originated. Labels have started issuing advance and promo copies that contain a digital watermark that can be traced back to the owner, and this time, Converge and Epitaph did just that.

The leak originated from metalsucks.net staffer Shaun Hand who was given a copy for review. As soon as the name of the staffer was revealed, the band took to the internet. It led to a domino effect of other artists calling for "Street Justice" (whatever that might entail) and a formal apology from the website responsible.

You can read more details and a partial timeline from Twitter about the ordeal over at The Phoenix.

LOVELAND OPENS TODAY, A-BASIN ON FRIDAY

Denver PostBoasting its earliest opening day in 40 years, Loveland officials opened for skiing today. Arapahoe Basin announced it would open Friday.

Loveland is the first ski area in North America to open its season, with $44 lift tickets. Loveland trail crews were able to begin snowmaking operations on Sept. 21.

"We took advantage of the cold temperatures and got an early start making snow this year," said Eric Johnstone, snowmaking and trail maintenance manager. "Now we can move some equipment to other trails and try to open more terrain as quickly as possible."

As usual on opening day, Loveland opened Chair 1 with 1,000 vertical feet of terrain on Catwalk, Mambo and Homerun.

Friday will mark the earliest opening in Arapahoe Basin's 64-year history. The Exhibition chairlift will open at 9 a.m. Friday with skiing on the intermediate High Noon run and six features in the High Divide Terrain Park. There will be no beginner skiing.

RISE AGAINST REFUSES TO PLAY FOR ARMY SPONSORS

The band recently pulled out of a radio station concert sponsored by the US Army's Recruitment Department. Florida radio stations lashed out against the band following the announcement.

"We were surprised that a radio station claiming to be familiar with Rise Against thought we would be ok with the idea that we would play a show and subject our fans to military recruitment tactics in a time of war, a war we adamantly and publicly have opposed since its bumbled inception," the band said in a statement, which can be read in full on their website.

LIFE OF AGONY TO PERFORM RIVER RUNS RED

Life of Agony will perform the entire River Runs Red album at Starland Ballroom in Sayreville, New Jersey on November 28 in celebration of the band's 20-year anniversary.
