STARKWEATHER SIGNED TO DEATHWISH

I'm not sure if anybody remembers this band from the 90's? They are bad ass. I'm totally stoked on this! check it.
"Starkweather join the Deathwish family, two new releases announced!!!We are proud to announce that Deathwish is now the label home to Philadelphia's legendary Starkweather. Arguably one of the most important and and influential bands in heavy music, we are truly honored to be working with Starkweather on a variety of upcoming releases.
From Starkweather: It's been a long four years since our last release. In that time we've been to Europe, played some spectacular and not so spectacular shows in the States, and have written over two albums worth of new material in the bunker.
After fulfilling a contractual obligation, we're finally ready to announce that we've signed with Jacob Bannon's Deathwish Inc. With a nearly two decade relationship, this union seemed like the next logical step for the sometimes difficult and idiosyncratic guys in Starkweather. Having known us for as long as he has, Jake is well aware of how obstinate, eccentric, and protective we are of what we do.
Our first release on Deathwish will be a split release with the colossal Overmars from France. Our contributions to the album are "Armed Memory", a seven and a half minute long jagged and aggressive song in the vein of "Machine Rhythm Confessional" from Croatoan and the second song "Nightmare Factory", a Black Sabbath by way of Fear Of God meeting Ved Buens Ende dirge that courses nearly 14 minutes. "Nightmare" was planned to appear on Croatoan but the version we recorded was sub par and thusly shelved. Both songs for the split were recorded October 11-13 at DeadVerse Studio in Union City, New Jersey under the unflinching eye of Alap Momin. Both songs are dense, claustrophobic, and evoke the paranoia that fueled their writing; containing layer upon layer of guitar, vocals that ebb and flow with the twisting rhythmic passages, and the near telekinetic foundation of the Rosa brothers backline. As a nerdy side note, there was no click track, no beat detective, and no vocal tuning; the drum tracks are one continuous take with us playing together in the live room. A release date and other specifics will be announced soon.
Our next release on Deathwish, This Sheltering Night, was actually recorded before the split with Overmars at various sessions throughout 2007-2008 at DeadVerse Studios. This is six Starkweather songs ("Bustuari," "Epiphany," "All Creatures Damned And Divine," "Broken From Inside," "Martyring," and "One Among Vermin") and features soundscape interludes created by artist and musician Elizabeth Jacobs, under her guise as Sophia Perennis, and Oktopus from Dalek. The entire album can be played as one continuous 73:41 piece or as separate tracks. A release date and other specifics will also be announced soon. "

ELWAY'S GETTING MARRIED FOR THE SECOND TIME

Denver Post "John Elway is going deep Saturday. The ultimate Home Game. The final Hail Mary.
No. 7 is slated to marry former Raiderette cheerleader Paige Green at his lakeside digs in Coeur d'Alene, Idaho.
This is Elway's second drive to the altar. He was married for 18 years to Janet Elway, and they had four children before divorcing in 2003.
Elway, 49, met Green, 42, at a golf tourney in Los Angeles in 2005. But he didn't make his move until he saw her again in an infomercial and tracked her down. She moved to Denver in 2007.
As reported last fall by colleague Penny Parker, Elway popped the question in Venice, Italy, in September.
Elway did not return calls from The Denver Post.
A group of friends are flying to Idaho for the nups, including close pal Craig Andrisen, business partner Tim Schmidt, sportswriter Rick Reilly and their wives. With lotsa family coming, about 50 to 60 people are expected at the wedding."

PENNYWISE LOOKING FOR NEW SINGER

Singer/songwriter Jim Lindberg is leaving Pennywise [ tickets ] after nearly two decades with the punk outfit.
"Being the singer for this band has been an amazing experience, and along the way we made some of the best fans anyone could ask for," Lindberg said in a prepared statement. "I would sincerely like to thank everyone who helped us along the way and wish everyone in the Pennywise family the best of luck and continued success."
Lindberg, who serves as founder and consultant for the Video on Demand action sports and music network Havoc TV, has helmed the California punk act since its 1988 inception.
The band's remaining members--Fletcher Dragge, Byron McMackin and Randy Bradbury--wished Lindberg well in a statement issued Friday (8/21):
"After 19 years with Pennywise, Jim Lindberg has decided to step down as lead singer. Pennywise has long stood behind the motto that you should always follow your heart and pursue what makes you happy, and we wish Jim the best of luck in his new ventures, whatever they may be. Pennywise has become a way of life for a lot of people, and has definitely become a way of life for us. As the three remaining members of Pennywise we feel that we are not done delivering our message to our fans.
"The band has always been about moving forward in life no matter what obstacles stand in front of you. We will begin our search for a new singer immediately. We will continue to tour the world and we are looking forward to writing new music. We've had a lot of good times and survived the hard times thanks to the undying support of our fans. We're looking forward to what the future may bring."

THIS TWILIGHT SHIT HAS GONE TOO FAR: The Twidildo

"The Twidildo: It exists! Tantus, a maker of fuck trinkets, is coming out with a sparkly dildo they are calling "THE VAMP." They can't really call it the Twidildo since they will get sued and lose everything they fucked so hard for. And that would be a shame since they deserve to make millions and millions of dollars for coming up with this work of geniusness (yes, geniusness). I mean, they deserve a Pulitzer Prize just for the description." ...Read more here.

SPREADING THE WORD: THE DENVER DOG BAN PROTEST AUGUST 25TH

Pit bull ban debate getting hairyContributed by: Kathryn Richert/YourHub.com on 8/12/2009Supporters of breed-specific legislation say it works; opponents say it's ridiculousA city ban on pit bulls has been making owners howl.
Now a group of them are banding together to protest the ban Aug. 25 in front of the Denver City and County building.Organizers for the protest say it will be a peaceful, educational opportunity for the public to learn about pit bulls, and a chance to announce details of an organization being launched to fight breed-specific legislation.
Since Denver reinstated its pit bull ban in 2005, forums and Web sites, including http://www.denverkillsdogs.com/, have cropped up against the ban."We're gaining speed. You've got thousands of people out there who don't like the law," said Linda Hart, an Englewood resident who doesn't own a pit bull but who his helping organize the protest. The ban prohibits pit bulls and any mix-breed dog determined to be part pit bull.
Denver originally banned pit bulls in 1989 after a 54-year-old minister was attacked by a pit bull. A 5-year-old was killed by a pit bull the year before.According to http://www.denverkillsdogs.com/, more than 1,800 pit bulls have been euthanized in Denver from 2005 to 2008.
Denver Animal Care and Control did not return multiple phone calls.Supporters of the ban, including Charlie Brown, Denver City Councilman for District 6, cite the fact that there have been no serious pit bull maulings in Denver since the ban."Pit bulls are bred differently than other animals," he said. "They can turn on a dime."He said it's not realistic to try to identify the pit bulls that won't attack from the ones that might.
Colleen Lynn, president of http://www.dogsbite.org/, a Web site that publishes information about dangerous dogs, says when pit bulls attack, it's vicious and hospital bills are costly.According to a study done by dogsbite.org, pit bulls and rottweilers account for 74 percent of bites that end in death and serious injury.
"The ban is the fastest and most effective way to reduce serious attacks by pit bulls," Lynn said.Ban opponents say the problem isn't with the breed, it's with a small percentage of irresponsible dog owners."The wrong end of the leash is being legislated," said Jan Keith, spokeswoman for ROVERlution, a California-based group that supports dangerous dog laws, just not breed-specific legislation.
The group is working to overturn breed-specific legislation in cities such as Denver. Those against the ban say pit bull attacks are rare; data collected for the Coalition for Living Safely with Dogs, which is comprised of animal control agencies and others, found that among the 129 different breeds of dogs that bite in Colorado, no one breed bites more than others.
Rhea Dodd, owner of Gentle Vet in Denver and veterinarian liaison to the Coalition for Living Safely with Dogs, said the answer isn't a ban - it's dog behavior education and neuter control.Hart said she is working with Denver City Councilwoman Carla Madison of District 8 on a proposal to relax the law.
Among other things, the proposal would require pit bull owners to pay a $50 fee for a pit bull permit, buy a homeowners or renters insurance policy worth at least $1 million and dogs would have to undergo temperament testing.
The Denver dog ban protest is at 1 p.m. Aug. 25 at the Denver City and County Building lawn, 1437 Bannock St. No dogs, please. NEW BIOHAZARD 2010

"The 20th anniversary of Biohazard came up last year, and we decided to get the original band back together and just go out and play some shows — be the old band that we were and go play for the audience that we miss and play the old songs and feel alive again and celebrate 20 years of great Biohazard. We went all over the world with it. There's no record out — there's no record company or anything; it's just us, four friends, playing. Biohazard's the same old band that it was; it's like nothing's changed [even though] 10 years, 12 years, have gone by. We wanna do a new record. So we're gonna take this experience and just be completely inspired by the crowds that we have been playing to for the last year and a half. It's such a great opportunity to have a second chance, so we're gonna do a new record, man. So 2010 should see a brand new original Biohazard album."
