Fastest-growing city in Colorado last year...Goes to?...(Drum roll)

MEAD???

Tucked away off Interstate 25 halfway between Denver and Fort Collins lies Colorado's latest growth hot spot.

Mead, once a sleepy agricultural town, was the fastest-growing city in Colorado last year, according to a new Census Bureau report released today.

The report also highlighted Denver's recent growth spurt. For the first time, Denver broke into the ranks of the 25 most populous cities in the U.S.

"Denver still surprises us," said state demographer Elizabeth Garner.

Mead grew by 8.4 percent last year to 3,408 residents, becoming the latest city in Weld County to lead the state in growth this decade.
